Using videoconferencing technology, Task ECHO will increase access to care for patients with complex chronic circumstances by equipping primary treatment providers when using the knowledge and skills needed to provide excellent specialty attention to their individuals. Project INDICATE is a type of guided practice that has been successfully applied much more than 40 countries worldwide.

The ECHO model has been put in place in various groups including environment change, hepatitis C treatment, and problems change education. The ECHO version helps community providers study new skills and provides a learning environment to improve overall performance.

Participants in Project ECHO sign up for weekly electronic clinics with expert teachers to receive didactic education, guidance, and feedback upon cases. In the clinic, members present serious, de-identified sufferer cases. This provides an opportunity for any dynamic community of well guided practice to emerge.

Project ECHO also includes regular workout sessions that discuss new solutions, best practices, and opportunities for scientific quality improvement. Members are also able to take part in regular peer review to foster a learning environment.
